El Rey – Truth And Love Against The Force Of Evil (2025)
Born from the ashes of dissolved bands, singer-songwriter El Rey proves that a passion for music can burn brightly come what may. Poking the embers and bringing it to a fiery roar, the UK-based artist punches through the noise; unafraid to stand and lay our reality bare, removing the rose-coloured glasses and giving us the gritty details. The latest addition to his discography is ‘Truth And Love Against The Force Of Evil’.
Following his singles ‘World Spun Out Of Control’ and ‘I’d Rather Be Lonely’, El Rey tackles life in the 21st century with courageous style in ‘Truth And Love Against The Force Of Evil’. I say courageous because it takes someone unafraid of provocative content and willing to speak out about, well, the crappiness of life. ‘Truth And Love Against The Force Of Evil’ is a song that reminds you a fight is already happening, quietly bringing things to the boil – “there’s a storm humming just beneath the surface… Governments and the mainstream media distracting you with one hand and funding genocide with the other… The guilty being pardoned, agendas being pushed, propaganda keeping us all divided, war-hungry politicians run by globalists, and people glued to their screens choosing to turn a blind eye.”
Just as the words of ‘Truth And Love Against The Force Of Evil’ are impactful, El Rey weaves the powerful message into a stirring few minutes of folk-rock. Simplistic in a way, a strong folk element exudes in the melody with dynamic drums, a soaring guitar, and piano adding tenderness to the track. Soothing and soft, El Rey’s rough vocals quietly bring light to that storm beneath the surface. Moreover, within the laidback arrangement, a lingering sense of urgency makes the track demand attention.
For me, this single is sincere and sentimental but also brave, bold and honest. While it is a “lifting of the veil”, it is not a sermon. Instead of a revolutionary cry to take arms, the song is a hopeful anthem for those who acknowledge the madness but still believe in the power of truth and love.
