Ethan Pacheco – Melody (2025)

The best friend of James Bay and Chris Stapleton, singer-songwriter Ethan Pacheco completes the group of buddies with his not-too-country, not-too-folksy, almost a bit of indie-rock sonic flair. Alright, so that is only a hypothetical grouping of mates, but Pacheco’s sound is undeniably somewhere between the established artists. Hailing from the USA, Texas to be precise, Pacheco was “raised never too far from a guitar” – his ease and comfort with the instrument a true testament to guitar-driven originality, authenticity and genuineness. This is my introduction to Pacheco, so join me as I sit back and listen to his single ‘Melody’.

Following the debut single, ‘ol’ blues’, ‘Melody’ shifts from a bluesy rock tone to something closer to an Americana sound with stronger flecks of country clinging to the tune. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Taylor Tatsch, the track teeters between contemporary and retro sounds; something refreshingly new but comfortably familiar. It’s like an old friend giving you a big hug before you head off for a cup of tea and a nice long chat – y’know, those good moments.

Melodically, Ethan Pacheco brings the elegance of warm solace into our lives with this sophomore single. Yet, amidst the gentle guitars and drums, a hint of vulnerability slides through delicately unpicking human fragility. For me, this profound insight brims in the vocals; rich, warm and loving but also with a lilt of fractured tenderness, presenting a strong understanding of emotion within melody. Good and smile-worthy while retaining the intimate intensity of raw honesty in poetic wording. Pacheco explains:

“This song is about the ways music finds and holds you – sometimes gently, sometimes not. Writing from the heart means being vulnerable, and I hope people hear themselves somewhere inside these verses.”

Sincere and sentimental, Ethan Pacheco sings with a simultaneous sophistication of seasoned performers and innocence of a youngster making his way into the world. This musician has already showcased two sides of his style with ‘ol’ blues’ and ‘Melody’. I am eager to hear and discover more from this intriguing new artist.
