Every Other Weekend – Memories (2026)

A law student by day, and a musician by night and weekends (or during those moments when he wasn’t hitting the books), Chris Bull founded his solo project, Every Other Weekend. Following the passing of his father in 2015, the dissolution of his band, City Reigns, in 2016 and the end of his marriage in 2017, one could say Bull was in a tumultuous, confusing stage of life. Yet, out of the ashes, he slowly but surely fell back in love with music and started the step-by-step journey to creating melodies. Following the 2025 track, ‘Come Back (When You Feel Like)’, Bull enters 2026 with ‘Memories’.

Recorded and produced by Bull, with Mick Morrison (mixing) and Bob Cooper (mastering), ‘Memories’ is not a rollercoaster or smooth sweep of sound; instead, the melody is like viewing three threads heading up toward the chorus before joining in a colourful weave – kind of like a bracelet with three strips joining, separating, and then coming together again.

Alright, let me explain. Opening with a soft tone, Bull’s guitar, the bass, and Adam Millest’s drums are delicately layered but offer a sound that is entirely individual – the three strands. Bull’s rich vocals also seem to take a single lane, so it’s as if each aspect is on its own path; then we talk about the weave into a bracelet.

With indie-pop sentimentalities, guitars tie about a bold bass, and the drums slip in with pulsating beats. Harmonious and rhythmic, the paths intersect on a large, entwined weave; add a soaring guitar solo and Bull’s vocals dancing, slicing and gliding across, and you have a toe-tapping tune perfect to soothe the soul, warm the heart, and restore a sense of comfort.

“By day, I was surrounded by all this paperwork – documents, spreadsheets and contracts. At night, I was being transported back and forth through snapshots of moments in time… In one sense, the song is just a snapshot of where my head was at the time. But in another, there’s something in there about how we live our own truths, and what memories we hold dear to help us do that.” – Chris Bull on ‘Memories’
