Freya Skye @ The Fillmore, Philadelphia (21.02.26)

There is nothing like attending a typical concert these days. Filled with joy, excitement, and the momentous atmosphere of the magical waves of decibels filling the venue, especially when it comes to a sold-out show. If you haven’t heard of musical breakout sensation Freya Skye, chances are you’re out of touch with today’s fastest rising star. Thanks to not just her latest spin with a Disney Channel blockbuster movie, but also her first taste of arena sell-outs with a run of Descendents/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour, music fans have a second chance to capture the essence of Freya Skye and her first headline tour.

On the heels of her current first leg of the Stars Align Tour, which recently sold out Philadelphia’s Fillmore, you could feel the energy outside the venue with fans lined up and down the block with signs in hand proudly displaying their deep love for her music.

When they say it was a packed venue, they weren’t kidding. Wall-to-wall fans ranging from tweens to teenage girls, all dressed up, ready to dance the night away, squeezed in front of the stage, ready for what would be an evening of musical bliss. Fans were entertained with a short opening set, with breakout star Adrian Lyles, who entertained the packed Fillmore, winning girls over with his charm and musical talents.

At one point, the chants started to flow – “Freya, Freya, Freya”. At full decibel lung levels, it truly gets you all fired up to what would be one of the greatest shows that would be forever etched in every girl’s mind, even before the show started.

The atmosphere at this sold-out venue was nothing short of electric, as Freya Skye opened her twelve-song set with ‘Can’t Fake It’. Within just a few lyrics into the first song, the shouts began to transcend from fans who know every single song; that’s not only a true fan but a die-hard fan of her music. You could feel the warm embrace this young breakout star has as she swayed from side to side, acknowledging fans in the front row, stopped to wave and smile; she absolutely has that brilliant smile that can surely light up an entire room.

Skye’s set featured songs from her new EP, Stardust. Her chart-topping buster ‘Silent Treatment’ with a sprinkling of unreleased debuts – ‘Bad Taste’, ‘London’, and ‘Why’d You Have to Call’ – while she tossed in her hit song from Zombies 4, ‘My Own Way’.

The entire evening was a spectacular show; she sounded nothing short of magnificent, her vocals and voice stellar, and her band added that pop star flair. For many fans discovering her talents early on, we all have that ultimate chance to see a powerhouse princess come full circle thanks to music platforms, video clips and of course, Disney Channel. When you get to see anyone in the music world blossom at a young age, you see promise, you see talent, and you see them rise before your eyes to the point that they could sell out arenas. I saw Freya Skye’s talent at The Fillmore in Philadelphia.
