Harry Hudson Taylor – Hiding From Nature (2026)
Oddly enough, Harry Hudson Taylor’s solo project began while he was performing as half of the duo Hudson Taylor. In our interview with Hudson Taylor, he shared that “I had a YouTube channel where I uploaded little odd songs; there was even a running joke with fans about my “solo career”. I suppose the proper shift into this chapter began after our final Hudson Taylor gig in 2022…” Emerging with music that is intimate, raw and resonant, the Irish singer-songwriter and producer creates a sound built on “indie-rock urgency, folk-rooted storytelling, and instinctive pop melody.” The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Hiding From Nature’.
Following his well-received single, ‘Dear You, It’s Me’, ‘Hiding From Nature’ is a track finding the sweet spot between grunge-fuelled energy and folk-inspired intimacy. Joined by Shay Sweeney (drums) and Paul Carr (synthesiser), with Hudson Taylor playing guitars, bass, percussion and synths, ‘Hiding From Nature’ is a wave of… not darkness, but a heaviness that would please any Nirvana fan. A bold bass keeps the beat steady, while drums crash in the background, with an electric guitar slithering across. The rollercoaster wave from crushing weight to a tender, light wave of synths and percussion, then the odd merging of both dark and light is, for me, a powerful expression of the song’s theme: soul-searching.
Recorded and produced by Hudson Taylor, ‘Hiding From Nature’ showcases a personal autonomy; an individuality in a picture of him as raw, honest and unguarded. Melodically, ‘Hiding From Nature’ is evocative, yet it is the profound lyricism that adds weightiness to the track. Exploring themes of soul-searching, inner discovery, and finding that sense of clarity beneath an identity built to survive, Tylor explains:
“I wrote this on the other side of something dark. And when you come through that, you start seeing how many people are still inside it, still performing, still defended. The song is an invitation, or maybe a challenge.”
