HOLYMAMI – TRAP THERESA (2025)

Rising artist HOLYMAMI continues to dismantle musical conventions and forge her path with the release of TRAP THERESA, a five-track EP that is as much a sonic statement as it is a personal manifesto. Known for her fearless blend of rock, punk, alternative, and nu-metal, HOLYMAMI returns with a record that captures the duality of strength and vulnerability in a way that is rare and riveting. The EP’s title itself, TRAP THERESA, hints at a collision of sacred and profane, spirituality and street grit, a fitting metaphor for an artist who stands as both a holy saint and an aggressive sinner in her music.

Opening with the fierce feminist anthem ‘WOMAN MYTH AND LEGEND’, HOLYMAMI sets the tone for what feels like a rallying cry for empowerment. The track is unapologetically raw, filled with warrior energy and a roar that demands to be heard. It’s the perfect introduction to an EP that refuses to conform to expectations, instead channelling the rebellious spirit of punk and the raw intensity of rock. HOLYMAMI’s voice cuts like a knife through the noise, confident and unyielding, inviting listeners into a world where power is reclaimed and voices are amplified.

The rebellious streak continues with ‘DESPERADO’, a track that bristles with urgency and defiance. Here, HOLYMAMI captures the essence of breaking free from societal chains, a manifesto for individuality in a world obsessed with conformity. It’s a high-energy anthem that resonates with anyone who’s ever felt marginalised or pressured to fit in. “The only escape is to create your own world,” HOLYMAMI says, and this track embodies that philosophy in every riff and shout.

But the EP isn’t a one-note punk blast; it’s layered and complex, shifting gears with the genre-jumping ‘BLEEDLESS’. This punk-rock experiment plays with tempo and mood to portray the exhausting, cyclical games of modern dating, a sonic metaphor for emotional weariness that feels raw and real.

HOLYMAMI’s boldness extends beyond her original material, as she takes on Nine Inch Nails’ ‘HEAD LIKE A HOLE’ with a cover that reimagines the industrial classic through a fierce female lens. It’s a testament to her ability to honour the past while stamping her identity on it, transforming the track into something urgent and visceral, a perfect fit for the EP’s narrative of power and resistance.

Closing TRAP THERESA is the haunting ‘FADING’, a dreamlike love song inspired by Mazzy Star’s ethereal ‘Fade Into You’. This track reveals a softer, more introspective side of HOLYMAMI, a tender moment that contrasts beautifully with the EP’s otherwise ferocious energy. It’s a reminder that beneath the grit and rebellion lies vulnerability, adding depth to an already rich collection.

TRAP THERESA is a sonic altar for the modern rebel, a fearless fusion of styles and emotions that refuses to be boxed in. HOLYMAMI’s originality, authenticity, and bold experimentation make this EP a standout statement from a rising artist who is just beginning to claim her space in the music world. Whether you come for the punk attitude, the rock intensity, or the emotional rawness, TRAP THERESA delivers it all, loud, proud, and unrelenting.
