IAMCORNELIUS – Sinking Sands (Not Alone) (2026)
While his original creative expression was writing poetry and drumming, Kenyan-born but US-based IAMCORNELIUS had a passion for music burning in his soul. When he learned his first chords on the guitar from his brother… well, everything changed. Over the years, the multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter crafted melodies that not only engaged melodically, but reflected on human experience; the making of a musician who “sees, identifies, and creates hope to be sent to the furthest of hearts that have been seeking true peace and purpose in a world that grows darker by the night…”
IAMCORNELIUS began sharing music with international listeners in 2021 – at least according to Spotify – but it is only now that The Other Side Reviews has discovered him. Following the 2025 single, ‘Life’, ‘Sinking Sands (Not Alone)’ is a silvery wisp of sound fluttering across a wistful soundscape. Produced by Duncan Redman, the song is oddly simplistic but brims with complexity in its almost five minutes of music. IAMCORNELIUS’ acoustic guitar inserts an organic beauty into the folk-tinged tune; each strum a delicate gift with optimism and hope. Redman’s keyboard slides beneath with a mellow lightness that is both solid and ethereal.
‘Sinking Sands (Not Alone)’ is one of those songs that travels across your skin and leaves you shivering but happy. IAMCORNELIUS’ rich vocals warm you, soothe you, and seem to wriggle into your heart, offering a breath of refreshing air in sometimes stagnating and disappointing times. Interestingly, the melody is not only intriguing in its arrangement, but is also a reflective alignment with the poignant message. IAMCORNELIUS explains:
“’Sinking Sands (Not Alone’) is a call of hope to anyone who finds themselves in the valleys of life, looking for any sign of light… to all of those who made it through “the other side” to be reminded that, in this life, you can’t settle or allow stagnation to take over, but to continue on with confidence.”
Sincere and tender with a calming touch, ‘Sinking Sands (Not Alone)’ is highly recommended!
