Jane N’ the Jungle – METAL GHOST (2022)

Jane N’ the Jungle are back after their hard-hitting ‘DIRTY DOG’ and the screeching guitars and poetry of ‘Trouble’ for ‘METAL GHOST’. Their latest single is partially an ode to rock and its aesthetic and part a look at following your muse to fall in love with the unknown. Written on the night that Joey Jordison’s death was announced, the single brings an open-hearted feeling to the attitude of rock and metal.

Through the single, the band lets us all know that there is a metal ghost waiting inside that wants to be set free. The band has packed a lot into this single as they fly out of the stalls with a blistering mixture of hard rock, grunge and anthemic vibes. An outstanding follow-up to their music that has already got us hooked, this track is sure to cement their place in your heart.

‘METAL GHOST’ pulses against the back of your brain with the rather punchy opening. There is an infectious energy woven into the guitars as they shiver down from the pulsing back of your brain, down your spine, to vibrate through your limbs. It is like you are being possessed by the melodic movement and filled with the energy of the ghost that is crying to be let out. The melody is a stunning piece of rock instrumentation that brings soaring guitars to a push of power as they join with the roiling drums. Combining this with the vocals and you are well on your way to a truly anthemic vibe. From the first note, the energy of the melody doesn’t let up, even when the guitars draw back for a more bubbling movement. At this point, there is this fantastic build to the melody that rises with the vocals, for an outburst of rock energy.

As the melody has you completely hooked to the single, the vocals curl around the rock fire that has been lit in your soul. There is a build through the verses that rises into the crescendo that leads you into the chorus. Through the lyrics, the band brings the idea of unleashing the metal ghost in your soul to life. This is particularly clear in the chorus as it details being drawn to the spirit of metal who you are unable to resist. As the melody bubbles, her vocals climb higher and higher for a wonderfully anthemic cry that really showcases the power of her vocals.

Through the driving guitars and soaring vocals of ‘METAL GHOST’, Jane N’ the Jungle possess you with the spirit of rock and call out to the metal soul inside us all. Both the vocals and melody are packed with anthemic rock energy that traps you in the movement, from the first guitar note, to the very last. The rising feeling that loops through the track showcasing the power of the instrumentation and vocals.
