Ker – There Are No Words

Given that Ker’s full website is coming soon, and the Spotify discography dates back to 2025 with only a few singles, one might consider Ker to be an emerging artist. A rising star in a mass of classic rock musicians, to be bright and shiny, and find a way to stand out. Will he? Well, let’s take a closer look with our gander at his single, ‘There Are No Words’.

Following his singles, ‘Lofty Thoughts’ and 2025’s ‘Wondering On Giants’, Ker continues sauntering into 2026 with ‘There Are No Words’. Skipping across a few decades, Ker, once again, whispers life into the memories of 60s jangle-pop and 70s soft rock in this new track. Produced by Jamie Graham, there is a bouncy, toe-tapping, head-bopping rhythm to ‘There Are No Words’ – the kind you get when you’re just enjoying a song that could play in the background but still be infectious enough to drive itself into your brain. It sticks, it just does.

Sprinkling his production fairy dust across ‘There Are No Words’, Graham arranges a harmonic combination of Pete Fairbairn’s bass and dusty keyboards, Ker’s lingering acoustic and electric lead guitar, and Graham – yes, the producer – keeping the beat with steady, rhythmic drums. All bound in a melodic concoction to calm your nerves, smile along, and start humming.

The melody is enjoyable with its flowing rhythm, but it is the vocals that up the ante. Almost separate from the melody, Ker’s voice acts like a conversation atop the tune aimed directly at you. He explains:

“My second song turns the spotlight inwards, and sets the tone and style for the rest of the album… The song is intended to be uplifting with a soft, sentimental lilt… a “love song”, but one that does not contain the word “love”, but rather associates “our song” as a melody that resonates and coalesces… with the final affirmation being that the person for whom it is written responds, modestly, but knowingly with just a smile.”

With the promise of an upcoming album, Converging Paths, I am eager to hear more from this talented discovery.
