Lucas Pasley – Laissez-Faire Love (2025)
With emotional music, moving lyricism, and a toe-tapping beat that will wriggle into your head and stay there for days, Lucas Pasley is a musician with a distinctive flair that stands out among the crowd. With decades of experience in the music industry, the US-based Pasley is an established, award-winning singer-songwriter who pours his heart and soul into every chord he strums and every word he sings. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Laissez-Faire Love’.
Following his 2025 singles, ‘Someone To Hold Me’ and ‘Georgia Sun’, ‘Laissez-Faire Love’ keeps Pasley’s sonic ball rolling. Produced with Mat Leppanen and Wesley Easter, ‘Laissez-Faire Love’ leans toward vintage blues in its slow, hazy, toe-tapping melody. Taking the fore is Joe Robinson’s bold trumpet, somehow leading you through the track with a big smile. When Robinson’s horns take a step back, Pasley’s harmonic blend of acoustic guitar, banjo and percussion brings up the rear. It’s a laidback, chilled-out groove that grabs you, wrapping you in a comfortable blanket and taking a refreshing breath of contentment.
While the track itself is a bold and memorable one, its presentation and execution are low-key, hushed, almost whispered. Like a conversation with an old friend, Pasley’s calm vocals are reassuring, heartfelt, and most of all, comforting. Yet, while ‘Laissez-Faire Love’ is the simmer in the background, its intimate message flies firm and sure from the harmonic tune – the right to love. Pasley explains:
“’Laissez-Faire Love’ is a song about letting the people you love be who they are – whether that’s a romance, friendship, family or other binding tie. Too often we love with expectations, and as those we love sail through the vicissitudes of their journey and get pulled through the unpredictable turns their growth will take them, we are often filled with disappointment, or even worse, resentment, as if they somehow had any way of knowing where their hearts would take them. That knowledge is for powers much higher than anything human. So why not share the journey… Why not love with freedom?”
