LUNA & The Gents – Farm Days (2025)
Despite having heard only one single a couple of months ago, LUNA & The Gents clutched at my heart with ‘Je Ne Peux Pas T’Oublier’ and, well, je ne peux pas oublier LUNA & The Gents. Almost two months later and the Switzerland-based foursome return with their new single, ‘Farm Days’.
Following the insatiable ballad ‘Je Ne Peux Pas T’Oublier’, the “swinging vintage pop” band leaps into the world of rockabilly with their new release. Recorded, composed and produced with Leendert van Stipriaan, ‘Farm Days’ daubs LUNA & The Gents’ sonic palette with shimmers of country, power-pop, indie-rock, jangle-pop and soul – all bright colours ready to paint a fascinating, immersive picture.
Similar to their debut single, ‘Perfect Day’, ‘Farm Days’ drags you back to the years of the Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Kinks. With a nostalgic flair, you find yourself singing along to lyrics you don’t even know and tapping your toes while clicking your fingers, dreaming of days gone by. Andy Lang’s bold drums languidly meld with Rainer Schudel’s bass while Yves de Groot’s keys shimmer along, offering a glitter of sprinkling music. A soaring guitar, courtesy of Matthias van Stipriaan, flies overhead, blinking in the bright sunlight. Yet, while the instrumentation paints the perfect day in the countryside, it is Evelyne Péquignot’s vocals that up the ante, bringing sunshine to the melody.
Melodically, ‘Farm Days’ is the warm breath of a lazy afternoon wafting on your skin and warming your weary bones. Lyrically, it is as enchanting and heart-warming. The band explain:
“The song exudes lightness, humour and a large dose of nostalgia…’Farm Days’ is a song that touches the heart and makes you smile at the same time. Perfect for anyone who wants to escape everyday life for a few minutes and dream back to the “good old days” with a wild mix of rockabilly and swing.”
In addition to the single, LUNA & The Gents released an official music video for ‘Farm Days’. You can view the video below and/or on LUNA & The Gents’ YouTube channel.
