Lynney Williamson – I See You (2026)
Breathing life into the nostalgic sounds of the 80s with synth influences and classic pop vibes, Lynney Williamson drags people back to those magical times – or perhaps drags the 80s to modern-day audiences, giving them a taste of yesteryear’s analogue designs. Hailing from Scotland, Williamson has a penchant for storytelling, weaving heartfelt, intimate poetry into moving melodies. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘I See You’.
Following her 2025 singles, ‘Shadows’ and ‘STARS’, ‘I See You’ is the third release from this Scottish songstress, or at least according to Spotify. Produced by Williamson, with mixing by Fumez, ‘I See You’ is a swoon of synth-heavy brush of 80s pop. From the outset, Myke Amor’s keyboards grab you in a swift embrace, carrying you into a warm sonic twirl of music shimmering with fairy dust and sparkles. Along with the keyboard synths, Williamson’s samples bring a bit of obscurity to the track, while Fumez crafts the “…80s cassette sound that we all love.”
Almost like a splash of A-ha and Pet Shop Boys with the flush of Kate Bush and a splash of Stevie Nicks, ‘I See You’ really is a step back in time and frolicking in 80s pop sensibilities. Williamson’s light vocals dance across the melody, so it’s like she’s holding your hand as you spin about in that sonic twirl. Interestingly, while the track is upbeat, laidback, and dance-worthy, it has that juxtaposition of fun-filled airiness and poignant lyricism. Williamson explains:
“The song that I had written… is actually about my friend Donna, who had, sadly, over the years developed arthritis, and… her mum passed away last year, who looked after her, so the song has such an emotional undertone to itself… As my words, I don’t want to see you drown or make a mistake, is watching her try to navigate life through pain and uncertainty. I wanted to make sure the song itself was positive-sounding, and something that she could dance along to in her chair and that she would love too.”
