Max Sarre – 2025 (2025)

Some people want to be a police officer; others a doctor, lawyer or social worker. 12-year-old Max Sarre knew his future lay in the arts as a pop star. Now, in his early 20s, living in London, the singer-songwriter brings a solid pop sound to audiences live, on the radio, and streaming online. In his Spotify biography, he describes music as “…my whole life. It’s got me through everything, and now, I want my songs to do the same for my fans.” To aid others, offer solace and a comfortable connection, Sarre delves into troubling, painful experiences with a passionate pop soul. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘2025’.

Following his singles ‘Come My Way’ and ‘Mercedes’, Sarre ended last year with his single, ‘2025’. Describing it as his “final gift to you this year”, the song is that brightly coloured, powerful pop song that hits you between the eyes with its bubblegum-topped sweetness. A flood of pulsating beats and twinkling synths creates a rainbow-coloured, fairy dust-sprinkled sonic path that you can dance along with a hop, skip and delightful jump.

While the track has a sweep of old-school Bieber-esque pop, its contemporary groove inspires comparisons to Shawn Mendes or Troye Sivan. Vintage and retro, but modern and alluringly new, ‘2025’ is one of those songs that stands the test of time from a melodic and thematic perspective. Bouncy and happy, you love how it reminds you of and celebrates the fun side of life; yet, there is a juxtaposition between the happy-go-lucky pumps and poignant, ageless lyricism.

Keeping with his aim to connect with audiences and work through difficult times, ‘2025’ explores the challenges of life after Covid. Sarre explains: “My final gift to you this year. This song is my take on the world since Covid. How social media’s shaped us, and how it’s felt living inside it all…”
