MICAH – Cry (2025)
With the obscurity of Lady Gaga and the flair of Sia, singer-songwriter MICAH makes an impact regardless of your genre preference. It’s true, the songs we have come across are, to date, mostly electronic pop; however, her versatility is evident as she dips into folk-tinged songs like ‘Trust Your Ways’, then hits back with the high-powered, energetic, electropop anthem ‘X’S’. Today, MICAH continues to demonstrate her diversity, showing us another side to her multi-faceted personality with ‘Cry’.
Following the single ‘X’S’, ‘Cry’ is the second single from MICAH’s highly anticipated debut album, set for release in spring 2026. Produced by Sam Stevenson, the track has MICAH sauntering through different realms of pop, from the shimmering dream-pop synths to a heavier indie-pop vibe. A kaleidoscopic concoction of synths flutter in the background, offering a fairy dust-like sheen; however, the bold beats matched with a dynamic guitar add the heaviness of indie-esque tones. A particular note to a dip in sound with only a guitar and MICAH’s vocals present, before the melodic crescendo – like an eye in the storm.
Oscillating between dark and light, MICAH’s single captures vulnerability and confidence, fragility and boldness; it unpicks the delicacy of human experience and emotion. The wash of music carries you across an evocative sonic whirlpool, but it is the message and lyricism that give ‘Cry’ an extra push. MICAH explains:
“Writing ‘Cry’ was a way for me to process what was happening in my life. It’s raw and honest. I didn’t want to sugarcoat anything. This song is about standing in the mess with someone, not running away… This song is my promise to the people I love, no matter how bad it gets… it is a vow and a promise.”
In addition to the single, MICAH released an official music video for ‘Cry’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel. Please note: this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.
