Michellar – Aunque Sea Por Una Noche (2025)
Celebrating the complexities of romance and love, singer-songwriter Michellar takes listeners through the murky waters of relationships with her music. With ‘Intersection’, Michellar explored the idea of love at first sight, and ‘Conquer All With Love’ was a promise that love will always exist, no matter where a relationship takes you. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Aunque Sea Por Una Noche (If It’s Only For One Night)’.
Following the well-received ‘Get Me There To Church’ – a song about “tying the knot” with your true love – ‘Aunque Sea Por Una Noche’ is about the sustaining power of love, the feeling of being loved lasting a lifetime. Michellar explains:
“The story behind this release is that about that one night… when someone makes you feel loved and so in your entire life that love sustains you. I have met many people who feel this way, and their stories touch me.”
As with most of her material, the theme and tale behind the music is heart-warming, but ‘Aunque Sea Por Una Noche’ has another wave of significance. Originally penned in English, the track was then translated into Spanish with vocalist Jiji Picazo as Michellar’s debut Spanish language single. Embracing her Spanish cultural heritage, each word captures the tenderness of love, as well as presenting a new side to this multi-faceted artist. Lyrically, the single is amazing, with Picazo’s rich vocals delivering the narrative in rich, soulful tones. Granted, I’m not certain what she’s saying, but the lilt of Spanish enhances the intimacy and intensity of the single. Yet, it is not only the words that make the song; the melody is as soul-stirring.
Produced by Lloyd Miller at Spirit Song Studios in Texas, ‘Aunque Por Sea Una Noche’ is a testament to sophistication, maturity, and authenticity – all shown exquisitely in Michellar’s track. The combination of traditional Spanish guitar and percussion tenderly takes you by the hand, but it is the underlying strings and piano that bring a simultaneous haunting and soothing quality to the melody. Interestingly, while the arrangement is simplistic in a way, there is an intricacy to ‘Aunque Por Sea Una Noche‘ as the barebones nature is both accentuated and subdued with kaleidoscopic charm.
Sincere, sentimental, and inspirational, the soft indie-folk tune is a flood of serenity in a sonic wrapper.
