November Sky – Avenge You (2025)
Formerly known as Scarlet White, the US-based rock group November Sky takes audiences on a journey through varying realms of rock. Hailing from Michigan, the members have established themselves as an energetic trio with a confident presence, high-powered music, and that little bit of something-something that keeps you singing along even if you’re entirely unsure of the real lyrics. This is our introduction to November Sky, so join us as we delve into their single, ‘Avenge You’.
Following the acoustic version of their track ‘Out of the Black’, November Sky left 2024 with an unfiltered rush of simplicity and sauntered into 2025 with ‘Avenge You’. Produced by Dan Hall, ‘Avenge You’ can most easily be described as hush haunting wrapped in a beautifully skin-chilling breath of alternative rock.
Not as bold as ‘Hide My Soul’, ‘Avenge You’ steps down a bit, retaining simplicity in its barebones ambience; however, while there is a barebones starkness, this is locked in a kaleidoscopic blend of guitars and drums. So, in other words, the swirl of rock music blinds you with various colours, while the core – even in its shimmering colours – keeps a sense of security and heartfelt tenderness. The chaos without, but calm within.
For me, ‘Avenge You’ is a liberating song, giving you that moment of freedom and empowerment to sing at the top of your lungs with reckless abandon. Then again, there is a haunting entwined throughout the melody; a profound sense of gut-wrenching pain where you feel slightly hollow despite the warmth of the rich vocals. It’s strange, this juxtaposition of emotions, but this is what makes ‘Avenge You’ so memorable. Chilly and cold but brimming with tender warmth and hopeful richness. Soft and soothing, but with a tinge of hardness peeping from the exterior.
As I mentioned, this is my introduction to November Sky, yet I feel I have known them for longer than a few minutes. I highly recommend this group to anyone and cannot wait for more from them.
