Robots In Love – See The Fires (2025)

From the pulsating beats of techno and EDM to the brash, abruptness of punk, and ethereal dark-pop, Robots In Love waves their genre-defying wing across audiences, gleaming with something to attract everyone. The eclectic collaboration of vocalist Elenor Rayner and multi-instrumentalist Alex Burchell, the New Zealand-based duo is not only indefinable, but also a trailblazer in alternative music.

Taken from their debut full-length album, ACTIVATE!, ‘See The Fires’ borders on the realm of alternative pop, but dances along with high-tempo electropop and heavy, hard-hitting alternative rock. Self-produced by Rayner and Burchell, with mixing and mastering by Burchell, the new track is a silvery concoction of electronica, hard rock with a blip of dark-pop lingering at its multi-coloured underbelly.

As with most of their tracks, Robots In Love release a fully immersive single with ‘See The Fires’ – in other words, you’re shoved immediately into a sonic hurricane when listening to the song. Spinning across the room, bouncing from kaleidoscopic walls of sound, Robots In Love catch your breath and have you gasping for air in this four-minute single – not literally, of course. It’s as if the tune seeps into your pores, sends fiery tingling across your skin, and keeps you in a constant state of “what the hell?”

A bold bass and pulsating beats keep the melody pounding with urgent ferocity; however, just as the beat shakes your room, there is a charming playfulness making it perfect for the dancefloor. Add Rayner’s magnetic vocals, and a ray of sunshine, but also the rage of fire, slices across the chaotic tune.

‘See The Fires’ is a stand-out single boasting the talent of Robots In Love, but, for me at least, it is only a drop in the ocean. To fully appreciate Robots In Love, I recommend you take a moment and listen to their genre-diverse album ACTIVATE!
