Rooftop Screamers – Blink Of An Eye (2025)
The brainchild of music industry heavyweight Mike Collins – an award-winning, in-demand musician with various accolades and international acclaim – Rooftop Screamers is his solo project, reaching out to the masses with an eclectic, one-of-a-kind sound. We were introduced to Rooftop Screamers with 2024’s ‘Souvenirs’ and continued to follow his melodies with the critically acclaimed 2025 single ‘My Sanity’. Today, we step once again into his enigmatic bubble of sound with the latest release, ‘Blink Of An Eye’.
Eager to explore reality at its core, Rooftop Screamers reflect on the past, present and future with all the intricacies of life in their melodies. In ‘My Sanity’, a lightning bolt of music ran down our spines as Randy McStine reflected on “the moment when you realise the truth and find the strength to walk away…” With ‘Souvenirs’, Collins reminisced on the memories of a dearly departed loved one. In ‘Blink Of An Eye’, Rooftop Screamers brings further profundity to his music, capturing the “gone in the blink of an eye” state of reality. Collins explains:
“…a hauntingly beautiful meditation on the fleeting nature of life… the track is a poignant reminder of how quickly everything can change and how precious every moment is… ‘Blink Of An Eye’ is more than just a song – it’s a statement… reminding us to hold tight to the now before it slips away.”
Thematically, the concept of passing time adds depth and weightiness to the single, but ‘Blink Of An Eye’ is more than an introspective exploration of life – it is a lush melody brimming with the obscurity and genre-diversity of Rooftop Screamers. Produced by long-time collaborator Mark Plati, the single is a colourful concoction of 80s glam rock, power-pop, and hints of Britpop peeking from the background.
Sophisticated elegance – that’s how one could describe the slick, satiny polish of ‘Blink Of An Eye’. Yet, amidst the laid-back tranquillity, Royston Langdon’s vocals seem to enhance the rich sincerity while simultaneously adding urgency within the mellifluous flow.
