Shelita – Fade (2025)

You know that tale where the musician (or any other career) begins in their home town then moves and makes it big? Well, Shelita is the embodiment of that journey. Raised in Seattle, the singer-songwriter had those dreams, and she acted on them instead of sitting back and waiting for something to happen. After relocating to Europe to pursue the dream of being a recording artist, Shelita appeared in the pop scene by going viral on social media… the rest is, as they say, history. Skip ahead about a decade, and Shelita has built a loyal following, received rave reviews from international publications, hit the Billboard charts at #24, and presented confident performances at festivals like the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW.

Following her well-received single, ‘You Will Want My Love’, Shelita offers us another taster of her upcoming album, Into The Depths, with ‘Fade’. Produced with Lamar Van Sciver and Bellringer, ‘Fade’ continues the line of pop-inspired melodies but with a lighter, airier, dream-like tone. Driven by synths with bold beats pulsating in the background, listening to the track is like being sent off in a kaleidoscopic sonic bubble.

A case of floating through the soundscape with persistent duality in its execution, ‘Fade’ is a collision of moments passed through in haunting symphony. Melodically, each note is like a silvery raindrop landing on your skin, but as quickly as it arrives, it fades away. A sense of weightlessness with tranquil sincerity, but it is countered by the heavier, hard-hitting brush of vulnerability and raw emotion. Confident but subdued, wistful but laden, fragile but strong, ‘Fade’ is an intricate mesh of contradictions while keeping a soothing harmony.

As a tune, ‘Fade’ is an intricate perplexity of emotion wound in sound, and the profoundness of this airy song continues in its lyricism. Shelita explains: “’Fade’ is for anyone who’s ever lost someone, and for those who are aware that any meeting could be the last. It’s about embracing connection while we have it.”

In addition to the single, Shelita released a music video for ‘Fade’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel.
