Terminal Fear – Fractures (2026)
Embodying the joy of sharing their music and artistic expression with the world, UK-based group Terminal Fear celebrate exactly what they say in their memorable quote: “You will always feel like you can improve, but as long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.” The future is way ahead, and the past is way behind, so why not enjoy the present to your utmost? With a cup of tea in one hand, a chocolate biscuit in the other, we press play on Terminal Fear’s ‘Fractures’ to either love or regret this moment. Join us?
Recorded and produced at Sofastyle Studios, ‘Fractures’ is a sweep of hip-hop and alternative rock into a bright sonic ball of glittering colours. Ryan “twiggy” Twigs drums beat steadily alongside Aaron “skip” Bartlett’s bass with an anchoring flow. Kieran “rumm” Dunne’s guitar swims along with charming ease, so, instrumentally, there is a rock-tinged ballad-y type sound. Mellifluous, languid, and a breath of calm, you find yourself staring out into the distance thinking, “yeah, this works”.
Using live instruments, Terminal Fear try to build a more intimate connection with listeners, and while this works, it is Stuart “stu” Wright’s vocals and the lyricism that add weightiness. The influence of The Streets is loud and clear in his almost spoken-word execution; a conversation with an old friend over that particular cup of tea. Terminal Fear explains:
“The story behind this track is people can feel isolated even within crowded places, and when their special person leaves, it can be a negative place; but, it’s about taking the bull by the horns and finding your own way in the world…”
This is my introduction to Terminal Fear, and ‘Fractions’ showcases diversity, innovation, and an entirely original group. When approaching ‘Fractures’, I expected something rambunctious and a little raucous; I was wrong, and I’m so pleased I took the time to listen. My cup of tea may be empty, and I want another biscuit, but Terminal Fear’s lingering music keeps me smiling.
