Released as one of several well-received 2025 singles, ‘My Dad’ is a particularly intimate and tender track for The Rising Shine Project. An ode to his father, the song is a poetic pouring of the soul with honesty, raw emotion and heart. Stoll explains:
“My tribute to my late father. This song is truly special, as it is a real-life portrayal of who my dad was and how he raised me. Strong, compassionate, caring, and stubborn as hell, he was a contradiction at times, but I never doubted his love. I’m so lucky to have had him as my dad.”
A unique song, ‘My Dad’ embraces the power of AI in its creation and production – no recording studio. Beginning as a song on his acoustic guitar, ‘My Dad’ rose from simple roots to something vibrant, kaleidoscopic and, well, you wouldn’t say it’s AI; rather a combination of well-polished guitars, fiddles and drums. I’m not the greatest fan of AI, and am a little conflicted as to whether this track having such a human quality without being a group of musicians at all is good or bad. Is the fact that AI can imitate such raw emotion positive or negative? All I know is I really enjoyed ‘My Dad’ and am certain it will resonate with many listeners.
