Track of the Day: Chiara Maria – Bangin’ On The Walls (2025)
Known for her innovative nature and boundless creativity, singer-songwriter Chiara Maria has been turning international heads with her moving music. Creating a world of comfort and expression, Maria can lay her emotions bare in her jazz-infused melodies, and it resonates with an intimate appeal. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’.
Following her well-received debut single, ‘Mr Blue Bird’, Chiara Maria joins producer Salvatore Grande for ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’. Retaining her distinctive jazz-filled sound, the new single brims with pulsating drums, percussion, and an intriguing sax that adds sensuality to the tune. For me, the sexy sax solo certainly encompasses the smoky jazziness of ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’; however, sassiness oozes forth in Maria’s rich, soulful vocals.
A drag back to the vintage jazz clubs of yesteryear, I can easily see Maria romancing the crowd with a cheeky wink, seductive smile, and that enigmatic aura so evident in artists like Sade. Mystical, magical, and brimming with insatiable suaveness, listening to ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’ is breathtaking and intoxicating – a wriggle in your ears, rocking about your brain and then sliding down your spine with skin-tingling fascination.
While there is a calming quality to ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’, the track is not so innocent or honourable. Maria explains:
“I wrote ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’ while stuck in traffic on Route 9. I was thinking about two of my favourite book characters, Rhys and Feyre, and this scene where they bang on the walls so hard that a painting falls. I wondered, if me and my crush were to do it, would it be like my romantasy books – and what would he even think of the smut I read?!”
So, a quick delving into the seedier (and often more entertaining) side of lust and love, ‘Bangin’ On The Walls’ is all about… let’s just say it ain’t quiet. This is my introduction to Chiara Maria, and I’m eager to hear more.
