Track of the Day: Koburg – Painted Stars (2025)
The embodiment of female empowerment, Koburg is a one-woman band filling each of her melodies with raw passion and individuality. We first came across Koburg in 2023 with her single ‘Beauty In The Fight’, but she’d been turning heads for quite some time before that and is making even more waves since 2023. With rave reviews, confident performances, global airplay, and a bit of a cheeky smile, the UK-based songstress is establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Painted Stars’.
Taken off her album Twisted Fairytale, ‘Painted Stars’ is a symphonic saunter through the realm of melodic metal. Opening with soft, soothing, gentle tones, ‘Painted Stars’ begins as a smooth glide across a glistening sonic river; however, it’s merely a lull into comfort before a wave of tumultuousness hits. Instead of simple ripples, the crashing drums, scorching guitars, and bold bass seep across your boat with turbulent waves of rage. A palpable tension lingers in the air with rushes of sound twirling about in kaleidoscopic chaos… and then, it all ends with an abrupt halt.
Mixed by Evan Rodaniche and mastered by Ted Jensen, ‘Painted Stars’ ensnares your senses with its hurricane of music, but, and this is the strange bit, within the madness, there is calm silence. A haunting slip of gentleness bound in crashes of brutality – the melodic side of this hard rock/metal track. Koburg’s rich vocals are skin-chilling but are also an anchor as you are guided through the storm with empowerment and hope.
“’Painted Stars’ is a song about the impermanence of life and our search for meaning in the middle of constant change. It’s a reflection on how love is the one force that transcends time – a kind of energy that echoes through everything. The song is my way of calling out to the dreamers, the believers, the ones who light up the universe with who they are. It’s about awakening that spark and letting it shine.” – Koburg on ‘Painted Stars’
