The Other Side Reviewstrack of the day

Track of the Day: Love Ghost – Car Crash (2025)

A band that saunters through the realms of rock, daubing their sonic palette with alternative rock, grunge, pop-punk and pop-rock, Love Ghost binds emotional rawness into moving music. Holding their own as a powerhouse in the international rock scene, the US-based group boast a strong international following, critical acclaim from global publications like Alternative Press, Rolling Stone (over ten times), and Clash Magazine, and collaborations with artists far beyond their US borders. If you take a quick gander through our reviews, you’ll find the group is a regular on The Other Side Reviews, but each single has a diversity within the similarity, making their music constantly intriguing and exciting. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Car Crash’.

Following the well-received single ‘Spirit Box’, Finnegan Bell continues to shine with the intimacy and tenderness of an acoustic song. Minimalistic, sparse, and brimming with a simplistic barebones-ness, ‘Car Crash’ combines the strength of Bell’s vocals with a touching piano and interspersed percussion. Produced by Daniel Alcala, the single is soft, soothing and heart-warming, wrapping you in a comfortable blanket of sound; however, a tint of rawness and haunting clings to the sonic wrapper, sending shivers down your spine.

Eagerly touching on the trickier complexities of reality, Love Ghost dig into the issues of mental health, exploring isolation, alienation, identity, and self-worth with emo-infused lyrics and sounds. ‘Car Crash’ unpicks the fragility of human relationships – “…a love that felt sudden and violent – like a collision – leaving behind silence, regret and beauty”. Melodically, it’s like walking on a sonic path leading you through dark forests with a veil of tragedy as every lyric tells a tale of regret and yearning. Yet, despite the pain lingering within the song, Bell’s calming vocals act like a guide slowly pulling you – you might not know when the hurt will ease, but you know there’s someone to give you a hug when it does.

In addition to the single, Love Ghost released an official music video for ‘Car Crash’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
