Track of the Day: Nina D. – Dear Younger Me (2026)
Honest, emotional, authentic and intimate, singer-songwriter Nina D. writes relatable songs that “invite listeners to see a little of themselves in every song.” With a penchant for storytelling, she uses personal moments to inspire growth and resilience by exploring our vulnerabilities, heartbreak, fragility and, so it’s not entirely doom and gloom, empowering hope. While Nina D. has only two tracks to her name, or at least on Spotify, she is already reaching listeners and turning heads far beyond her Norwegian borders. Adopting an entirely DIY approach, she self-penned, recorded and produced her debut single, ‘Dear Younger Me’. Join us as we hit the play button on this song.
Primarily a guitar-driven track, ‘Dear Younger Me’ is a wistful weave of music with soothing, soft and smooth sounds. You seemingly walk along a sonic path, enjoying the sweet breeze with a deep sigh of, well, happiness. The guitar is beautiful, but it is the strings that truly add that little extra something-something, capturing the enduring vulnerability alongside caressing affection.
A love song of sorts, but not to a lover, friend or family member, ‘Dear Younger Me’ is the letter from present you to past you. Built with sincerity, it’s the song to warm another’s heart and inspire that hug that makes everything seem better, calmer, and easier. Nina D. explains:
“’Dear Younger Me’ came from reflecting on how much time we spend worrying about things that, years later, no longer matter. It’s a song about self-compassion, growth, and learning to see your younger self with kindness instead of criticism. I wanted it to feel like a letter of reassurance, a reminder that even when life feels uncertain, we’re often stronger than we realise.”
In addition to the single, Nina D. released an official lyrics video for ‘Dear Younger Me’. The video can be viewed below and/or on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
