Michellar – Get Me There To Church (2025)

Unafraid to delve into raw emotion, whether it be painful or joyful, Michellar pours her heart into her moving melodies. I mean, not her real heart, more the essence of honest human emotion and experiences. In her song ‘Intersection’, she describes the magical place of love at first sight, while in ‘I can’t meet you’ heads down the path of wanting to leave a difficult relationship. Today, we take a listen to her most recent release ‘Get Me There To Church’.

Following the well-received singles ‘Conquer All With Love’ and ‘Let’s go move around!’, ‘Get Me There To Church’ is a celebration of country music. Unlike ‘Let’s go move around!’ that had a poppier feel to it, Michellar continues to shine her toe-tapping, head-bopping love of country with a Nashville flair. She’s not from Nashville, but there’s that heart-warming “let’s roll down to the home of country” groove.

Produced with Tobias Wilson, with Helen Walford and Harrison Black providing vocals, ‘Get Me There To Church’ is a song that spans continents from California to the UK (San Francisco, London and Staffordshire to be exact). Using the power of remote collaboration, this track is not only brimming with individuality but also the harmonic camaraderie of artists wanting to bring something special to audiences, particularly honouring the country music scene.

Inspired by singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert, ‘Get Me There To Church’ is an acoustic blend of guitar, banjo and percussion. Calming and soothing, the melody lifts your spirit and sends you drifting off with a grin on your face. Brimming with sophistication and clarity, the rich vocals offer both an informal conversational ease but also showcase musical professionalism.

Melodically, ‘Get Me There To Church’ is kaleidoscopic without being overwhelming; lyrically, it’s as heart-warming. Michellar explains:

“Living together with the one you chose is just not enough to assure one of eternal love between two people. So why not tie the knot after so many years, and getting to church is all that needs doing. I personally had this experience, and reminiscing about those times in this song just makes me write those feelings we both had at the time.”
