Nikita – No One Is Gonna (2025)

On the heels of her critically acclaimed debut single, ‘Kill Her Mind’, singer-songwriter Nikita keeps up the momentum with her new song, ‘No One Is Gonna’. Taken from the upcoming EP, Suspend, each track takes listeners through the world of uncertainty, the grey area, and the line between black and white that we find in reality’s contradictory nature. Nikita explains that Suspend is “…about the moments where you don’t have resolution yet – where you’re still sitting with the weight of something you can’t quite name” Until the release of Suspend, let’s take a look at Nikita’s current releases – specifically in this review, ‘No One Is Gonna’.

Produced with Richie Quake, ‘No One Is Gonna’ shifts from the swirling synth-driven pop tones of ‘Kill Her Mind’ to something a little more anchored with indie-pop vibes. While ‘No One Is Gonna’ retains the swirling sensation of ‘Kill Her Mind’ and can leave you lost in a kaleidoscopic bubble of sound, there is something grounded in the tune. I’m not sure if it’s the pulsating beats, the shimmering keys, the synths, or Nikita’s vocals, but something is holding your hand instead of letting you fly away.

For me, ‘No One Is Gonna’ showcases a sense of sophisticated structure to the arrangement – it’s like a slice of clarity turning in a wistful sonic haze. Condensed and cohesive with a kick of whimsy keep the song organised, yet there is a playful innocence swimming about with impish glee in the arrangement.

While Nikita’s upcoming EP – set for release in September – oscillates between tragedy and triumph, celebrating the unspoken areas of life, ‘No One Is Gonna’ dips into the intricacies of love with bold certainty. Nikita explains:

“This song is about leaving an interaction with someone you love and feeling full. Walking away and recognising your love for that person and what they mean to you, regardless of anything that could jeopardise it.”
