Bronze Nazareth and Apollo Brown – Enough Lord (2025)
While the names Bronze Nazareth and Apollo Brown are new to my ears, the US-based musicians are ground-breaking artists creating music that is pure artistry. Hailing from Detroit, DJ Apollo Brown brings an innovative take on boom-bap and hip-hop, redefining and expanding the tired-and-true formula for boom-bap production, taking it one level higher in his notable career. Hailing from Michigan, but now residing in Detroit, Bronze Nazareth is an enigmatic singer-songwriter breaking the norm of modern-day rap and hip-hop.
Bring the talented individuals together, and you can imagine the level of sophistication, originality and innovation oozing from their project. An enigmatic joint venture between Bronze Nazareth and Apollo Brown takes form in the 2025 album, Funeral For A Dream. Today, we take a closer look at the track, ‘Enough Lord’.
Sitting alongside tracks like ‘Banshee Walk’, ‘Lemon Glue (ft. Eddie Kaine)’, and ‘Right There’, ‘Enough Lord’ is an eclectic combination of old-school R&B and rap, bound with bold beats, a hypnotic guitar, and soaring synths. What makes this track stand out on the 12-track album is its experimental nature. Produced by Apollo Brown, the production is both smooth and flowing, but with a jagged edge, adding a hint of unease in the angular arrangement. Shifting between the piercing bluntness of hip-hop and the mellifluous rub of soulful R&B, ‘Enough Lord’ embraces you in a sonic whirlpool, but hints at the overflowing crash of its tumultuous force, albeit subdued.
Just as the melody oscillates between insecurity and anchoring tones, the vocal execution inserts a darker tone to ‘Enough Lord’. A provocative song reflecting on the discontent in reality, the pair “…weave together a litany of global struggles… confronting the weight of the world…” The choir-esque vocals singing, “Enough Lord” in the background, cements a yearning for rebirth, renewal, and reflection on modern society.
In addition to the single, Bronze Nazareth and Apollo Brown released an official music video for ‘Enough Lord’. You can view the video below and/or on Apollo Brown’s YouTube channel.
