The Kellows – Breathe Me In (2025)
With the fresh-faced smiles of youth, The Kellows draw together the youthful charm of adolescence, but I’m betting there’s a bit of a cheeky grin and wink lingering beneath that innocent optimism. Is it the mischievous glint in their eye or the twinkle that says, “I only look so sweet”? For me, it’s more the sophistication of their sound that imparts the maturity of their musicality beyond a gaggle of 17-year-old guys jamming out on guitars and drums. Quickly earning a reputation for poignant lyricism and enthusiastic confidence, Will Harris (vocals and guitar), Evan Applegate (guitar and vocals), Charlie May (bass), and Rueben Huddleston (drums) are captivating audiences and turning heads beyond their UK borders. Join us as we jump headfirst into their most recent single, ‘Breathe Me In’.
Following their well-received single, ‘Do You Want Me To?’, ‘Breathe Me In’ taps into old-school indie-rock, but with the lingering of alternative-rock weaving across its melody. Bold, brash and abrupt, the single combines crashing drums, a dynamic bass, scorching guitars, and the richness of Will Harris’ vocals. Waving his production wand across the track, Paul Tipler perfectly balances each instrument, offering each individuality and attention – a particular shoutout to the moving guitar solo – as well as binding all elements in a rough, raw, rhythmic rock-laced symphony.
While every aspect of ‘Breathe Me In’ draws you in with vibrant kaleidoscopic swoops of sound, it is Harris’ vocals that bring a larger degree of intimacy to the track. A song to engage, rather than just entertain, Harris explains:
“We felt like ‘Breathe Me In’ needed to capture a different side of us – something more personal and immersive. It’s a track that still has that Kellows energy, but it’s about letting the listener fully sink into the emotion of the moment.”
In addition to the single, The Kellows released an official music video for ‘Breathe Me In’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
