JCCutter – Tequila At Dawn (2025)
Going the route many musicians head down, JCCutter always wanted to write music and share it, but life took over. Responsibility, duty, pretty much “adulting”; however, the embers of that passion to write music continued to burn. So, JCCutter kept writing, and last year he released his debut single, ‘Shutdown Pawns (Outlaw Version)’, online – at least, according to Spotify. Skip ahead about a year, and he wriggles into our ears with his most recent release, ‘Tequila At Dawn’.
Following his 2025 albums Christmas from the High Desert and Perspectives, the US-based artist ended the year with ‘Tequila At Dawn’. Self-produced, ‘Tequila At Dawn’ is… well, the hip-swaying, toe-tapping, grin-on-the-face-slapping meeting those vibes of a crazy party with cocktails at dawn. JCCutter shares that “Music is the language and soul of humanity. You can see and hear music, in not… you feel it” – and he definitely captured that sentiment in this new single.
“’Tequila At Dawn’ was born after the serious topics in the album Perspectives. It was a project I’ve been writing for years, but never thought it was the right time. Well, it was clear it was time to get loose… I figured what could be a better way to do that – so, after a few regrets and absolutely an opportunity to get a bit loud – so, why not have a bit of a wrap-up song in time for New Year! It had to be something memorable, something the audience could participate in. Boom, I dusted off… ‘Tequila At Dawn’…” – JCCutter on ‘Tequila At Dawn’
A rush of Americana blasts from the outset, with strong rock flavours, particularly evident in the rhythmic guitar riffs. Country twangs slither through with bold drums, a strong bass, and JCCutter’s smooth vocals; however, it’s the quick backing brush of a soulful “ooohhh” that gives the track a bit of a vintage blues kick.
I’m unsure whether I might label ‘Tequila At Dawn’ sincere, but it sure is packed with the fun-tastic groove of celebrations to leave responsibility and troubles behind. This is the song you need to listen to in the morning to know last night was worth the pounding hangover today, or maybe wait a bit because too much loud noise isn’t welcome with hangovers.
