Stefanie Michaela – Turning Pages (2026)
By the age of 12, singer-songwriter Stefanie Michaela was already pursuing her passion in the performing arts. Along with her weekly performances for her family – those pretend concerts when you belt out Whitney Houston songs for your parents – Michaela turned heads at dance recitals, school musicals, and talent shows. She found solace in crafting original songs; a way of pouring herself into melodies, expressing every emotion from all her experiences. Her musical journey continued throughout school and later college, but certain obstacles turned her from the path of a singing superstar; now, she’s back. The latest addition to her discography is her album, Turning Pages.
Following the release of her well-received 2025 singles, ‘Anything Is Possible’ and ‘Better With Time’ – both tracks on Turning Pages – Michaela wants people to know that it is never too late to chase your dream. Lyrically and thematically, her songs are all about belief in yourself, taking chances and defying all those odds. When speaking about Turning Pages, she explains:
“This album is my truth. The strength and love of my family, especially as a devoted mother of five… gave me the courage to return to music. I’m stepping into this next chapter with confidence because every tear, lesson, and late night prepared me for this moment.”
In the 20 minutes making up Turning Pages, Stefanie Michaela takes you on a journey through fields of pop, soul, and R&B, scooping the sounds of the late 90s/early 2000s and pouring it into your ears. Opening with ‘Sometimes’, Michaela grabs your hand and delicately steps along a glittery twinkle of Toni Braxton-esque R&B. Simplistic and soulful, the piano-driven tune is easy on the ears and a wonderfully calm way to begin the musical rollercoaster ride. Then ‘Found In You’ hits.
Upbeat with a powerful pop tone, ‘Found In You’ is heavier with more of a punch. Yet, while the single is, well, stronger in a way, the delicate light-heartedness and empowering sparkle remain. ‘Stay In Your Lane’ jumps in with a bit of an off-kilter tone, binding bold beats with a rich vocal – the ideal song to lead you into the completely obscure track, ‘Better With Time’, that is rhythmic in one way and clipped R&B in another.
It’s always difficult to choose a favourite track, and the launch into 90s pop with ‘Anything Is Possible’ and ‘Ready For The Next Thing’ makes it more complicated. For me, I think the closing song – ‘Ready For The Next Thing’ – is not only a brilliant way to round off the Toni Braxton to Christina Aguilera album, but its title is a fantastic way of saying, “yes, I’m ready, let’s do this!” I’m ready for the next thing from Stefanie Michaela, although I’m also content to keep Turning Pages on repeat.
