Annika Bellamy – That’s What I’m Thinking (2026)
With an uncle in the 70’s band Redbone, and an aunt who was the principal singer in the show Folies Bergere and a backing vocalist for artists like Engelbert Humperdinck, it’s safe to say that Annika Bellamy has musical talent running in her veins. Hailing from Las Vegas but now located in Long Beach, California, singer-songwriter Bellamy inspires, engages, and connects with listeners in her moving melodies. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘That’s What I’m Thinking’.
Following her 2025 single ‘Angels’, Bellamy shifts from a hard-hitting pop ballad with strong Spanish influences to an upbeat, more Jason Mraz than Gloria Estefan vibe in ‘That’s What I’m Thinking’. A pop-driven tune, but with elements of jazz and soul in the arrangement. Opening with smile-inducing horns above the easy guitar strumming, you find yourself stepping into a gentle, chilled-out melody. The steady drums beat in the background, inspiring toe-tapping, and a slip of piano peeks from the background, inserting a little flair into the track.
For me, this is the soundtrack for those moments when you want to stare at the ocean, sit in the breeze and just remember, hope, and enjoy fleeting daydreams. Annika Bellamy explains:
“The song is really about getting lost in your imagination when you can’t stop thinking about someone. You can be somewhere completely ordinary, but in your mind you’re walking by the ocean, watching the sunset, kissing in slow motion – basically creating this whole little movie about the tw of you. I loved the idea of escaping that everyday grayness and drifting somewhere more colorful, romantic, and full of possibility. ‘That’s What I’m Thinking’ is really that daydream put into a song.”
Sincere, sentimental, and honest, Bellamy offers a melodic sigh of relief, a refreshing blip of sunshine through dark clouds, and a song you can happily have on repeat. Her rich vocals have drawn me in, and I am eager to hear more.
