Bad Mothers Union – God’s Intercom (2026)

Thriving on the beauty of collaboration and the raw power of several musical voices all raised as one, Bad Mothers Union is a swirling collection of like-minded artists all eager to share their artistic vision with the world. Founded by Conor Kavanagh (vocals and guitar), the current line-up boasts his talents alongside Shay English (bass), James O’Neill (drums and percussion), Tim Flood (bass), Cein O’Dowd (guitar bouzoki), and Joel Pitcher (guitar, bass and vocals). Drawing on the influences of Primal Scream, Sonic Youth, Mogwai and The Osees, Bad Mothers Union binds every individual’s unique shimmering sound into a kaleidoscopic wave ready to wash you away in a soaring plunge of tumultuousness. Join us as we take a deep breath and face their new single, ‘God’s Intercom’.

20 years after their debut single, ‘Fun For 5 Year Olds’ – or at least according to Spotify – Bad Mothers Union bursts with ‘God’s Intercom’. As a collective, the group’s contributors to different songs may alter, and ‘God’s Intercom’ is a collaboration of Conor Kavanagh (guitar and vocals), Shay English (guitar and bass), Joel Pitcher (guitar), Michael Lanigan (guitar), Aaron Harbourne (drums and percussion), Fiachra Carey (saxophone), and a brief interspersion of Peer Pleasure’s Brandon Murphy’s vocals during the middle section. Alright, lots of names to keep in mind, but overall, it’s just a fantastic blur of psych-rock music glistening in its torrents of euphoric sound.

While this is the first time ‘God’s Intercom’ reaches many people’s ears, the track is a relatively old one, having hung around for several years in various forms. When Lanigan “pushed up the BPM”, the track transformed into the swoosh of vintage rock we have before us. In one sense, listening to ‘God’s Intercom’ is like jumping about with friends, twirling head back, eyes closed, and floating in a liberating sense of freedom. Yet, on the other side, the crash of pounding drums, bold bass, swerving guitars and the clip of saxophone is a thrust into a rambunctious roar of sound where you find yourself clinging to the seat in fear, uncertainty, and blissful chaos.

In addition to the single, Bad Mothers Union released an official music video for ‘God’s Intercom’. The video can be viewed below and/or on their YouTube channel.
