Dave Sullivan – Capture (2026)
Bind the anthemic rock-edged energy of Kings of Leon and The Killers with the melodic pop passion of Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, singer-songwriter Dave Sullivan blurs the lines between pop, rock and indie with charismatic flair. Hailing from Ireland, Sullivan’s music brims with melodic innovation and honesty, but it is the powerful storytelling that falls across you like a beautiful sonic wave. Join us as we delve into his new single, ‘Capture’.
According to Spotify, so don’t quote me on this, ‘Capture’ is Sullivan’s first release in about four years following the 2022 single, ‘Gotta Be Strong’. Weaving together pounding drums with a bold bass and soaring guitars – particularly the scorching electric guitar riffs joining the tune about midway and carrying us to the end – ‘Capture’ is one of those songs made to turn up during a road trip, to spin about to while screaming along, and the track you’ll find yourself remembering long after you hear it.
So, what makes it so catchy? Infectious hooks, rhythmic riffs, and heartfelt lyricism? Yes, and no. Instead, and this is for me, it is how the melody so perfectly aligns with the raw human emotion. The drums are a pulsating heartbeat, and the guitar the earnestness in a conflicted memory; both reflecting vulnerability and fragility in a song that reaches beneath your skin to speak to your soul.
Melodically, ‘Capture’ is intriguing and engaging, but the lyricism seems to highlight the essence and message of the track. A song about a relationship, there is warmth and heart-warming charm; however, the lyrics: “My only break is day/ True love’s my enemy” note Sullivan’s fragility in “…a haunting look at the emotional rollercoaster of young love – magnetic, unpredictable, and never fully resolved.”
In addition to this single, Dave Sullivan released an official music video for ‘Capture’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
