David Morin – Foolish (2025)
With a raw passion for music burning in his soul, singer-songwriter David Morin celebrates life with moving melodies, insightful themes and poetic lyricism. In his words, “…we are creators, we’re here to create stories, ideas, art, music, and that’s a medium for us to express our suffering, joy, and pain.” A beacon of light to help us get through the darkness, a place to ponder reality with its grit and glory, and a place of understanding and empowerment – David Morin’s music is a creative expression of people as they are, were, and can be. The latest addition to his critically acclaimed discography is the single ‘Foolish’.
Following the well-received single ‘The One’, the award-winning artist binds elements of RnB and soul in ‘Foolish’. Penned, performed and produced with Infiniteblaq, ‘Foolish’ shifts from the pop-inspired ‘The One’ to a kaleidoscopic rush of old-school RnB. Breathing life into 90s RnB, a slight tap to acts like Boyz II Men shimmers in the back; however, while there are reminiscences to older acts, Morin slathers the four-and-a-half-minute song with a signature sophisticated soulfulness that seeps into your pores and sticks in your head for the rest of the day.
Sprinkling magic production dust across ‘Foolish’, Infiniteblaq expertly arranges bold beats, shimmering synths, and a slick brass section. Interestingly, as much as the track is harmonic with Morin’s silky, rich vocals adding encouraging warmth, each instrument appears to slide alongside the other, a particular note to the eclectic swim of synths about the edges. It’s a little obscure, however, it’s a symphonic single to have you grinning.
Melodically, ‘Foolish’ is intriguing, but the words are as powerful as the sounds. Morin explains:
“If I have to sum it up, ‘Foolish’ is about recognising real love through experiencing horrible past relationships and seeing past the bullshit. Real love isn’t always easy to perceive, especially in the honeymoon phase. When shit gets real and you can get through it together, then you know you got someone real.”
