Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light – Never Believers (2025)
Despite having only a few tracks streaming on Spotify dating back to 2019’s ‘Make you dance’, Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light are anything but amateurs. Shaking their veteran musical peacock feathers, the UK-based lads have much to boast about with significant experiences and influences – all drawn together in the unique Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light sound.
Frontman Joesph Dean-Osgood is a stand-out live performer who has supported the likes of Badly Drawn Boy and The Faces. Guitarist Graham Prior has performed at the Royal Albert Hall with Paul Weller, Pete Townsend and Kenney Jones. Drummer Mantu is one of the founders of the trailblazing dance collective, Transglobal Underground. So, prepare to jump into the new single from Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light – ‘Never Believers’.
Following the well-received 2024 single, ‘Amsterdam’, Osgood and his crew saunter into 2025 with ‘Never Believers’. Self-recorded and produced at the iconic Eastcote Studios – the same studio where Bob Marley’s Exodus was created – ‘Never Believers’ drags listeners back a couple of decades to the sounds of 90s/2000s alternative rock. Kicking with tinges of The Verve and Matchbox Twenty, the track is a bold concoction of powerful drums, a dynamic and soaring guitar, and rich yet rugged vocals – all bound in a kaleidoscopic swirl of soul-stirring, foot-tapping rock music.
For me, ‘Never Believers’ not only tugs at my heart with nostalgic memories of yesteryear; it is a transcendental track where the song not only leaps decades but also captures a live performance in the studio-recorded single. Instead of only enjoying the track in my comfortable armchair, I imagine myself laughing with the band in the recording studio. Hard-hitting, moving, and a delightful bubble of joy, I cannot wait for more from Joe Osgood & The Fathers of Light.
