Joe Rian – Think Yer In Luv (2026)
Singer-songwriter Joe Rian has lived one of those lives that would be a perfect movie about finding solace in music through the tough and triumphant days, all wrapped in a grand Americana musical ribbon. Think kind of a Johnny Cash-like film, but a modern version thereof. Pulling from about five decades, Rian pours snippets of life experience into each of his singles from his 2008 debut EP, Back In Bridgeport, to the more recent album, Midwest Boy, in 2023. He aims to engage with listeners, create intimate places of solace, and help people find sincerity, warmth, honesty and comfort in music. The most recent release by Rian is ‘Think Yer In Luv’.
Co-produced by Rian, Jaime Garelos, Jeff Mirabello, Chris Pisano, and Gavin Lurssen, ‘Think Yer In Luv’ sits solidly in the realm of Americana. A toe-tapping combination of drums, guitar, bass and Rian’s gritty vocals, each sound weaves into the other with a country-flavoured ease. The thing is, just as every instrument unites into a whole, individuality oozes from all of them. The drum pulsates and crashes while bound with rhythmic flair; the bass is a backbone and anchor, and the guitars sweep across the melody, soaring with originality.
For me, the entire track is refreshing, bringing a bright light to a rainy day. Rian’s rich voice dances across the tune and will have you twirling about at the country western bar. However, it is the blues-infused guitar solo that captures my eye and ear. Everything is brilliant, but that adds some spice to ‘Think Yer In Luv’.
Rian creates music to engage. In his words, “My job is for people to have fun. I make tavern music for people to dance to, not sad introspective music for listening rooms…” – and he does exactly that with ‘Think Yer In Luv’. Highly recommended!!
