KC Star – in my dreams (2025)
Should you take a fancy to the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen, Lady Gaga, Kesha and Taylor Swift, the chances are you’d be intrigued by singer-songwriter KC Star. Growing a following from his Soundcloud singles in 2017, the viral musician continues to saunter through various slicks of pop, bringing audiences something vibrant, infectious, and just fun really. We came across his music last year with the single, ‘wanted’ – a track exploring the theme of disillusionment, isolation, and being unloved. Today, however, KC Star continues his story of personal growth with the new single, ‘in my dreams’.
Following the well-received EP, love songs about no one, which included popular singles ‘wanted’ and ‘lonely love song’, the US-based artist takes another glance at the track ‘in my dreams’. Joined by long-time friend and collaborator Austen The Poet, KC Star lifts the track from love songs about no one and inserts a heavier, weightier, more powerful clip to the melody. Now, I’m not saying the song drifts away from its sparkling original, merely that the remix twinkles more brightly with synth-driven beats, bold drums, and more powerful vocals.
If you quite liked ‘in my dreams’ on love songs about no one, don’t worry, KC Star’s charming contemporary pop sound remains – it’s just a little brighter and immersive with kaleidoscopic flair. Imagine yourself drifting across a warm sonic river with light glistening between the ripples and the gentle tranquillity of soft music fluttering in the breeze; each moment serene, calming and soul-soothing.
Combining Austen The Poet’s R&B-laced tones with KC Star’s pop-filled ambience, there is a honey-soaked camaraderie where the players weave harmoniously in a rhythmic melody. An interplay between the artists’ vocals and their style is exciting, particularly as it opens fans up to innovative, experimental sides of their multi-faceted personas. Interestingly, while the track is a soft hug, the theme explores loneliness, isolation, and yearning in a dreamy pop tune.
