Kevin Honold – Honey (2026)

Known for his emotional melodies brimming with metaphor-rich lyrics, singer-songwriter Kevin Honold explores the raw honesty of simply being – in his words, “… I write songs about life and love, inspired by nature and the relentless rhythm of my heart.” While Honold’s music is fearless within its intimacy, he was not always this way. For years, he quietly observed each detail of his world, afraid of sharing his truth; however, and we’re really glad about this, the US-based musician has peeled back those layers to bring audiences a blend of soul and rock – something he calls “rhythmic rock”. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Honey’.

Following his 2025 singles ‘How To Write A Song’ and ‘Two Lovers In The Summer’, Honold joins producer Pat Noon to create ‘Honey’. Shifting from the strong folk-influenced leaning of ‘How To Write A Song’, ‘Honey’ weaves together a dash of percussion, a splash of horns, an underlying flutter of piano, and a shift of acoustic guitar with kaleidoscopic shimmers. For me, the opening horns immediately made me think of Chicago (the band, not the place) with a nostalgic smile. The swells and wanes carry along a toe-tapping, easy-to-hear arrangement offering an old-school jazzy/soul-y/folksy rock with a modern indie flair.

When listening to ‘Honey’, I felt I was sitting by a campfire listening to Honold playing the guitar with a breezy languidness. Yet, it is the message and inspiration behind the lyricism that upped the intimacy. Written for his wife, Honold explains:

“’Honey’ was written in winter while I was living in Seattle, dreaming of sun-soaked days, warmth, and sticky-sweet affection… ‘Honey’ is about that pull, when love feels warm, physical and alive. I wanted the song to groove and breathe, to feel close and electric, like sunlight you can step into.”

In addition to the single, Kevin Honold released an official lyric video for ‘Honey’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
