Nicholas Dante – Filthy (2023)

Despite having only four singles to his name, all released this year, US-based Nicholas Dante is reaching audiences across the globe with his enchanting dark pop tunes. From Rising Artists Blog, RGM and Sinusoidal Music, Dante has been described as “captivating and intricate” (Sinusoidal Music) and “…provocative dark pop” (We Write About Music). The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Filthy’.

Inspired greatly by iconic artists Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Madonna, Dante draws together infectious, laidback vibes with experimental, eclectic and avant-garde artistry of pop music. As with the well-received single ‘Breathe’, ‘Filthy’ is an enchanting swirl of synth-driven beats with a strong industrial arrangement. Similar to Rihanna’s ‘Please Don’t Stop The Music’, but with a greater intensity, ‘Filthy’ is a swirl of sensuality wrapped in a vivacious sonic wrapper. Well-textured and beautifully layered, this new single has the hard-hitting mark of electropop but with obscured, cheeky and, let’s admit it, damn sexy vocals.

In an interview with York Calling, Nicholas Dante explained that ‘Filthy’ is “a pop banger that really shows off my fun and messy side. It’s like Britney Spears’ Blackout had a baby with Christina Aguilera’s ‘Dirrty’…” I have to admit, ‘Filthy’ definitely has the attitude, power and raw vivacity of both Spears and Aguilera. It’s almost impossible to put the track on and not feel the passion and naughtiness of this sonic gem.

From ‘Breathe’ to ‘Filthy’, Nicholas Dante showcases a haunting in the ethereal beats producing daring, provocative and soul-stirring melodies. Already garnering a loyal following on an international level, this up-and-coming artist can ensnare your senses with a single chord. This is my introduction to Dante, but he has certainly turned my head making me an avid fan. I foresee a successful career for this talented musician.
