Para Lia – Neverland (2025)
For many, music can be a solace to escape tumultuous conflict, turmoil and tragedy; however, this solace is not always soothing, comforting or harmonious. In truth, solace can be found within chaos, discomfort, and atmospheric critique, allowing us to scream out, releasing pain, fear, and inner turmoil. From punk to metal, each chord connects with raw honesty and emotion, offering listeners comfort in whatever way possible. Today, we take a look and listen to German group Para Lia’s most recent single, ‘Neverland’.
Sauntering through various realms of rock from indie-rock to grunge, post-punk to psychedelic rock, Para Lia drags nostalgic sounds to contemporary audiences with a blast of hard-hitting sound. Following the well-received track ‘Mind Song’, ‘Neverland’ is a hypnotic blend of classic rock with crashing drums, soaring guitars, and a bold bass bound by silvery sonic ribbons. Interestingly, while the outside of the sonic package glistens with kaleidoscopic shine, the inside oscillates between dark and light as the male and female vocals linger with raw vulnerability in a frenzied soundscape.
As with their constantly evolving sound, Para Lia offer brash abruptness in ‘Neverland’, but with soothing sincerity hold your hand and stand firm in its unpicking of reality. Para Lia explain:
“’Neverland’ is not escapism, but a call to wakefulness. The song denounces the misuse of language in public debate, focuses on the increasing loss of genuine connection between voters and elected officials, and asks what happens to a society when individuality is sacrificed and people are only seen as a malleable mass… ‘Neverland’ is a critical trip through a world in flux and an invitation not to simply surrender to today.”
In addition to the single, Para Lia released an official music video for ‘Neverland’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
