Pete Keating and the Renslow Trestle – Tenderly (2026)
Unafraid to delve deep into the core of human experience, Pete Keating and The Renslow Trestle aim to take the serious, rub it with something lighter, and have people “dancing with tones and rhythms found deep in our collective DNA”. Sauntering across fields of Americana, folk-rock, blues and jazz, and grabbing a bit of everything on the way, the US-based band hold a sonic bouquet in their hands and offers it to audiences.
Recorded by Keating and his band The Renslow Trestle – Jacob Brown (piano/organ), Harrison Keating (upright bass), Gavin Olohan (electric guitar), Trevor Olohan (drums), Debbie Cantwell (viola and backing vocals), and Marita Schott and Baylor Burbidge as additional backing vocals – the band captures the core of the Seattle music scene in their eclectic style and sound. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Tenderly’.
Produced and engineered by Eric Lilavois at London Bridge Studios, ‘Tenderly’ is one of five tracks on Pete Keating and the Renslow Trestle’s debut EP, Stray Curls. Gently pulling us back to the 1970’s Americana sound, ‘Tenderly’ immediately places you at rest; like that moment when every stressful moment leaves your body, leaving you with a soothing peace as music runs in your veins. Evocative and endearing, the weave of organic and electric elements gives ‘Tenderly’ an aura that is palpably haunting and deliberately bold. Sonically, every instrument seems to delicately caress you; however, Keating’s gritty vocals are the part that holds your hand as you twirl about in a melodic haze.
Musically, ‘Tenderly’ is a tender tune to remove discontent and unsettled emotions, and its theme is perfectly captured in the lyricism and theme. Keating explains:
”’Tenderly’ graces the theme of everyday blandness and frustrations in the current state of modern society, made at least tolerable through the comfort and support of real love… This song came from life lived through our current troubled time, which takes a moment to explore the celebration of recognised supportive love, punctuating strong about all ambient societal noise.”
