Revived Echoes – What It Was (2026)

Known for his emotionally-driven lyrics, Revived Echoes describes his work as “…capturing moments, moods, and the often unspoken feelings we all carry throughout our lives… aiming to connect through both rhythm and meaning.” With personal narratives, the London-based musician adds intimacy, lived-in sentiments, and a resonating feeling for listeners, all set to a strong electronic pop beat. Join us as we take a dip into his most recent release, ‘What It Was’.

Earlier this year, we found ourselves wading through his upbeat, energetic, lively brand of dance and electronic pop single, ‘The Scenery Of My Thoughts’, and today we shift down a few gears with a softer, smoother, gentler melody. Produced with Mike Sting, ‘What It Was’ retains the emotional intensity of Revived Echoes; however, here, he showcases simplicity and sincerity in an organic-driven tune.

Soft beats pulsate in the background, while the acoustic piano weaves across the arrangement, giving ‘What It Was’ a more authentic, human sensation; it reaches into your heart and gives you that breath-taking feeling where everything stops – everything but music. When the violin kicks in, a haunting tone enhances Revived Echoes’ vulnerability, but the rich vocals unpick his fragility with a comforting hand and warm smile.

This is only my opinion, but, for me, there is a slip of James Blunt dancing across ‘What It Was’. An obscure lilt to his vocals melded with a toe-tingling acoustic soft-pop style. No major electronica kicking up your heels and setting things on fire; something simple, classic, and emotional without any bells or whistles. While I enjoy Revived Echoes’ dance style, his slower, non-electronic music is far more memorable. I hope to hear more songs like ‘What It Was’.
