Sara Grace – Fearless (2025)
Fearless is the debut EP from Scottish powerhouse vocalist Sara Grace. She recorded her first track a decade ago, but is back with a stunning collection of five tracks ranging from heart-wrenching ballads to pure pop. Sara Grace lists artists such as Sia and Stevie Nicks as her influences. She describes her own music as a ‘”soulful pop blend with a bit of grit”.
The EP’s title track is one of the epic ballads that Grace feels most at home with, and it isn’t unlike ‘Unstoppable’ by SIA. It possesses an alluring piano, which complements Grace’s exquisite vocal range. The track builds upon the chorus, backed by a solid bassline. Her anthems embody female empowerment – “I won’t break and I won’t fall /I’ll get back up and fight some more” is a prime example of the inspiring lyrics that this supreme talent can execute.
The next track, ‘Another Broken Heart’, opens with a luscious guitar, which is a key quality of this fine pop track. The track has wonderful harmonies, which is something that Grace likes to use to give a more dense sound. The lyrics are about a failed relationship; heartache is a recurring theme of some of the tracks here. ‘You chased me like a melody /You chased me from the start /You chased me when it ended /and you chased me ’til it hurt /and I don’t want another broken heart”. The words describe being wary of love and having regrets about the past. She adds, “Everything I write comes from a real place. I write about what it means to be human – our flaws, our messiness, our resilience. I think there’s strength in showing our fallibility, and I try to reflect that in my music.”
The mood then changes with ‘Stronger’, which is a sombre piano ballad with great production. The track seems to be about freeing the shackles of a relationship, when you didn’t have the confidence to do so before. The vocal delivery is excellent as expected, and Grace really sounds at her best when everything is stripped back. ‘War With You’ possesses a calypso-style beat with nice drums and gorgeous layered vocals. It is another defiant anthem about making it on your own. “And now I understand that I was just your pawn /And there’s no promised land just another helpless dawn” is the work of a confident lyricist.
Last on this impressive collection of songs is ‘All The Things We Never Said’, which has a really lovely groove and ridiculously catchy chorus. It is an up-tempo conclusion to the EP. The track has some modern-sounding synths with all instruments working in unison to give things a really good flow. It is about how the distance and tension can build up when things are left unsaid in a relationship. Grace explains the line, “It’s hurting you’re hurting too /the silence never seemed so quiet” as “…that feeling of being physically close to someone but emotionally miles apart. It’s about the weight of what’s not being said and how that silence can end up saying everything.”
This EP reads as a diary of somebody who has bared their soul, with emotional lyrics and immense vocal delivery. Sara Grace has a varied style, which should gain her the attention she deserves.
