Small Miracles – Bisexual Panic (2025)
Erupting with brash boldness, crazy confidence, and a message to question social norms, Small Miracles is that band you want to hear… need to hear… entirely have to hear to feel raw musical passion and take on the grittier side of life. Hailing from Cardiff, the fearless queer-punk group is carving a distinctive sound in the South Wales music scene with their blend of ethereal new wave, boastful punk, and stout-hearted grunge. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Bisexual Panic’.
Following the acclaimed 2024 single ‘Sign of the Times’ – a song challenging the disillusioned state of the nation – ‘Bisexual Panic’ takes a flying leap further into the side of society many choose to ignore, tackling the issue of sexual identity. Now, I’m not just talking about discovering your sexuality, but how the expression thereof, well, pisses people off, and the resultant social prejudice stemmed by a complex blend of fear and hatred. Lead vocalist Finn Fatale explains:
“At its core, ‘Bisexual Panic’ is about fear – both the fear of those who lash out and the fear of those who have to endure it. It’s about the messed-up dynamic between abuser and abused, where hostility often comes from insecurity. It asks: what happens when someone’s hatred of queerness is really about their own repression… The song is me saying what I never felt safe enough to say in the moment. It’s a mixture of rage, sarcasm and dark humour, because sometimes the only way to deal with that kind of fear is to turn it back on itself”
Produced by Andrew Sanders, ‘Bisexual Panic’ is a thrashing rush of retro punk flying at you at 100 miles per hour. Reminiscent of vintage punk bands like Sex Pistols and The Clash, crashing drums wrap around scorching guitars without any let-up over the one-and-a-half-minute tune. Brimming with rage and hard-hitting angst, each element spits with ferocity saying: “This is me, take it or leave it, back off you *insert rude word here*”
