Talking About Ray – Get In Get Out (2026)
Fusing the raw, rambunctious, high-voltage energy of their live performances with the melodic, catchy, infectiousness of their studio singles, Talking About Ray takes you from your armchair – or wherever you are when you listen to their music – and tosses you into the audience, jumping in unison with the packed audience and singing along with blissful enthusiasm. We were introduced to the Scottish trio with their 2025 single, ‘Mess Around’; now, we delve into their latest single, ‘Get In, Get Out’. Join us, won’t you?
Ending 2025 with well-received tracks ‘Better Days’ and ‘Mess Around’, Talking About Ray start the new year with a bombastic blast of sound in ‘Get In, Get Out’. Reece Ryan crashes in with drums – bold and smashing, but with a fluid weave through the punchy guitar and silvery vocals. Marty Guyan’s bass drives along the tune with a steady beat, while Sarah Monteith-Skelton’s guitar soars above and slices through the track. Along with her skills as a guitarist, Monteith-Skelton’s vocals dance across ‘Get In, Get Out’— a little gritty, but with a smoothness and confidence that ups the ante of the song. Produced and recorded by Mark Marrow Audio in Edinburgh, ‘Get In, Get Out’ finds the line between urgency and calm; silky mellifluousness and brash abruptness.
Melodically, the track is a gallant showcasing of the camaraderie between Monteith-Skelton, Guyan and Ryan; however, it is the lyrics that enhance that sense of liberation and empowerment in the song. Talking About Ray explains: “The track is about shaking off pressure and breaking free from your own head… written to feel immediate and honest… It’s a song made for movement and one for the late-night overthinkers, but with a sense of get up and go.”
