Tired of Fighting (ft. Isabel Maria) – Tired of Failing (2026)

About six years ago, give or take, Tired of Fighting came into being. It was conceived when George Sharpe (bass) “hounded” Nic Wood (vocals and guitar) to “…put some oomph behind the voice rather than just his signature guitar”. A brief moment later, after recruiting a drummer, Tired of Fighting was there. Known for their raw energy, enthusiasm, and rambunctiously infectious stage presence and sound, the UK-based lads quickly started turning heads from listeners to reviewers to radio presenters, and are now one of the more intriguing bands from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

The third single from Tired of Fighting’s upcoming album, And The Suddenly It Hits You, the emo-pop-punk powerhouse drags you back to the 2000s with ‘Tired of Failing’. Produced by George Sharpe, the single is a hard-hitting rush of music from the first note. Heavy drums pound and crash in the background, while Sharpe’s bold bass keeps a beat, and Wood’s soaring guitar weaves across the track. Reminding me of jumping up and down at festivals singing words you don’t even know, ‘Tired of Failing’ has the infectious attitude to stick with you for hours after.

Wood’s booming vocals bring warmth and comfort, but also insert an element of vulnerability and fragility; a vulnerability that is enhanced by singer-songwriter Isabel Maria’s angelic “I like the thunder”. A banging song, the track is a melodic winner, but the theme brings a greater degree of poignancy. Nic Wood explains:

“I was at a friend’s birthday party and was really aware of how uncomfortable I felt. I had to make small talk with people, and I just didn’t want to do any of it. My brain was catapulted to a time where I was in a relationship, and I didn’t have to do any of this. My partner would just be her charming self whilst I could just stare off into the middle distance and interject with the occasional ‘yeah’… I came back to my senses and realised how alone I felt, and how much I missed having someone to share my life with.”

The song might be titled ‘Tired of Failing’, but, and I’m going to be a bit cheesy here, the track is no way a failure. I cannot wait to hear the rest of their album.
