Track of the Day: Mr Pigeons – Signalling Signatures (2026)
Sauntering through the various realms of creativity, Berlin-based Mr Pigeons embraces sound, style and visual expression, forging a “unique tapestry that reflects the diverse facets of artistic identity”. While our focus remains on his music, Mr Pigeons dabbles in fashion design and sound art, showcasing versatility, innovation and a passion for artistic expression. This is our introduction to Mr Pigeons, but – and this is purely based on Spotify – the singer-songwriter has been sharing music with the masses since 2019’s ‘Come Along’. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Signalling Signatures’.
Following his 2025 single, ‘Come Into My World’, Mr Pigeons gives us a taste of his upcoming album, Shining Arras, with ‘Signalling Signatures’. In an album exploring ”…perception, memory, destiny, and the hidden patterns connecting our lives”, ‘Signalling Signatures’ sets the tone for “a journey through altered consciousness and shifting perspectives… evoke worlds where truth is obscured, choices carry weight, and meaning emerges from the signals hidden beneath everyday life.”
Lyrically and thematically, ‘Signalling Signatures’ holds weight, but the melody should not be pushed to the side. Simplistic and brimming with melodic obscurity, Mr Pigeons embraces vintage rap and hip-hop sounds; however, while the track has a retro hip-hop feel, it also has a strong avant-garde individuality.
Bold beats lay a heavy foundation, while an odd “click” that one might imagine as a silver rod hitting a plate pierces the minimalistic soundscape. Riding atop the instrumentation, and taking prominence, is Mr Pigeons gruff vocals; a spoken word execution like someone standing up and conversing with the audience. It’s not a lecture-style, more of a whisper with the underlying forcefulness of a booming attitude.
So, what is my overall opinion of Mr Pigeons? Based on ‘Signalling Signatures’, Mr Pigeons is enigmatic, intriguing, and someone embracing raw musical passion. I am eager to hear more.
