Track of the Day: Pretty Little Saturday – Tangerine (2025)

After a decade of capturing the energy and intoxicating enthusiasm of life music, singer-songwriter Kristi Knupp steps from behind the camera onto the stage with a microphone. Taking those years of studying the raw emotion one can convey through melodies and poetic lyricism, Pretty Little Saturday reaches out to audiences with a desire for connection, understanding, and solace from the challenges of life. Join us as we delve into her most recent release, ‘Tangerine’.

Following her debut single, ‘Long Overdue’, ‘Tangerine’ brings the calm intimacy of folk to the shimmering vibrance of pop music with a charming indie veil clinging to the edges. I might compare Pretty Little Saturday to the likes of Lizzie McAlpine or Gracie Abrams, but I don’t have enough to give you a complete analysis; for now, Pretty Little Saturday could be one of the singer-songwriters invited to enjoy a delightful, sun-soaked picnic with McAlpine and Abrams.

Similar to ‘Long Overdue’, ‘Tangerine’ retains an indie-folk influence, but this track is far softer, simpler, gentler and tender. Produced with Patrick Doyle and Phillip Shaw Bova, the single blends a polished arrangement with twirls of innocent vulnerability and sincerity. The harmonic fusion of acoustic guitar and hushed vocals not only settles your emotions but also enhances the poignancy of the intimate narrative. Pretty Little Saturday explains:

“This song is about the struggle of holding yourself together when everything feels like it’s falling apart, and the desperate question of who will be there to love and lift you in your darkest moments. It’s both a confession of vulnerability and a reminder of how deeply we all need connection when life turns inside out.”

Sincere, sentimental, and a breath of fresh air on a dreary work day, Pretty Little Saturday is not to be forgotten. I will keep my eye on this artist, and I suggest you do the same.

In addition to the single, Pretty Little Saturday released an official music video for ‘Tangerine’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel.
