Track of the Day: Kat Madleine – I’ll Be Right There (2026)
After years of navigating the industry – from appearing at the Cannes Film Festival to interviewing the Backstreet Boys – singer-songwriter, producer and musicologist, Kat Madeleine aims to bring 90s cinematic power-pop to 21st century audiences. Authentic, hard-hitting, and brimming with the joyful delight and tender poignancy of yesteryear, Madleine is Celine Dion meets Bryan Adams. Join us as we delve into her most recent single, ‘I’ll Be Right There’.
Following the 2025 single, ‘The Fourth Candle’, Madleine steps into 2026 with ‘I’ll Be Right There’. Self-recorded and produced, ‘I’ll Be Right There’ drags listeners to the late 90s with a strong comparison to the Backstreet Boys. A massive fan of the group – trust me, I had all the Nick Carter posters and can still remember every line to every song – ‘I’ll be Right There’ is a wistful, charming, delightful hush of pop whispering life into the emotional connection of songs like ‘All I Have To Give’, ‘I Need You Tonight’ and ‘As Long As You Love Me’.
Vibrant and glittering with the kaleidoscopic sprinkles of pop music, the melding of drums, synths, and guitar entwine in a harmonic melody; however, as much as the tune has its intricate caresses and swirling complexity, there is a simplistic, barebones emotion reeling from Madleine’s powerful vocals. Don’t forget the soothing piano plink-plonking here and there, bringing an acoustic authenticity to the song.
Mature and sophisticated, elegance flows through ‘I’ll Be Right There’, but an odd innocence and naivety also exist in the song. Childish and playful, but poignant and weighty, Madleine captures the old and young, worn and new, confident and meek, brash and subdued with pop flair. When speaking of the song, Madleine shares that, “…this song is more than just a track; it’s a soulful anthem for anyone who stands tall for those they love.”
So, my overall opinion of Kat Madleine and ‘I’ll Be Right There’? A dip into my childhood with all its graces, smiles and winning tones. I am thrilled to have discovered this tune, and am eager to hear more.
